Sunday 30 October 2016
6 – 8pm in the Church Dungeon

Matt Anslow is a theology educator, community gardener, activist, community organiser, nonviolence trainer, PhD candidate, husband, dad, muso and follower of Jesus. He is a founding organiser of Love Makes a Way, a Christian refugee advocacy group that organises nonviolent direct actions, and currently serves as the vice president of the Anabaptist Association of Australia and New Zealand.

Until recently he, his wife Ashlee and daughter Evie, lived in a small “intentional community” in Sydney called House on the Rock, seeking to put their convictions about community into practice in the midst of the mundane. Now, however, they are working towards setting up an intentional community and eco-farm in the Blue Mountains, NSW.

All these and other experiences have inspired Matt’s songwriting, which is musically influenced by anything from old folk and spirituals to the iconic bands of the 70s and post-rock.

This event is part of the Inspiracy Festival weekend in Newcastle (28–30 October) where Matt is a speaker.

– Our church meets on the traditional lands of the Awabakal people, and we pay our respect to elders both past and present –
