Heather is a passionate singer-songwriter lending her voice to matters of the heart. A much-loved local musician and regular performer at Adamstown UCA, Heather is back at Expresso to perform her latest original songs.
Heather’s songwriting in recent years has been aimed at the very young, encouraging ideas of love and acceptance. In 2017 however, Heather’s music is moving to address current issues that challenge the hearts of so many in the current climate. Heather’s songs tackle issues of racism, acceptance, welcoming of refugees, and what it means to be a person of faith at such a time as this.
The daughter of Opera singer, Jennifer Barnes, and jazz musician, Rod Barnes, Heather was surrounded by music from birth. Ever interested in ALL styles of music, Heather completed a Bachelor of Music degree on Double Bass (1999–2002) and went on to perform with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. Heather is now a published and licensed songwriter and performs regularly around Australia, both as a solo artist and as a session player for other acts. Heather completed a tour to the UK promoting her original music in 2016.
This will be a night of inspirational and though-provoking music not to be missed!
