The Wireless Chronicles #1 SPEAKEASY
Saturday 3 February @ 3:00 pm$25
Speakeasy is the first in ‘The Wireless Chronicles’ series … a delightful offering of themed concert combined with episodes of a running radio play – music / story / comedy – all rolled into one, where the audience gets to be the live guests at a radio station in the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s.
Did you know that Radio Plays were still popular up ’til their slow demise in the mid 60s? Each show in the series will have a combination of songs/stories from the era plus the latest episodes of an ongoing radio spoof “The Fickle Finger ……” – all with a heavy dose of quirky comedy, satire, send-ups, and mystery!
So if you missed Maureen O’Brien’s Speakeasy show last year, catch this next performance as a prelude to the series [or refresh your memory if you saw it a year ago ] … book a table, bring some friends and your favourite tipple, don a boa if you fancy – and be prepared to have some fun!
Coming later in 2018 …
The Wireless Chronicles #2: BOTTOMS UP – set in 1930, the year following the Wall Street Crash and the world is experiencing the Great Depression. Prohibition has ended and the crooks need to find creative new ways to turn a quid and outwit the cops.
The Wireless Chronicles #3: ARMS UP – set in the 1940s towards the end of World War II.
The Wireless Chronicles #4: I SPY – set in the 1950s – the era of the Cold War.
