Newcastle Music Festival event – Anthony Albrecht (cello)

In this special late night performance, his first concert of the Newcastle Music Festival, Anthony Albrecht performs selections from J.S. Bach’s stunning suites for solo cello, interspersed with other short works for the instrument by Dall’Abaco and Hopkins. Anthony offers discussion of the historical and cultural context of this timeless music, and welcomes some special guests including the King of Singing, Zackari Watt.

Anthony Albrecht

Anthony Albrecht is a Novocastrian cellist and recent graduate of The Juilliard School in New York City, completing a Master of Music in Historical Performance while studying with Phoebe Carrai. During his degree Anthony performed under William Christie and Nick McGegan and alongside Jordi Savall and Monica Huggett in venues such as Alice Tully Hall and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
