What is a wind quintet?
Flute + oboe + clarinet + bassoon + the mellow tones of the French horn. A wind quintet is both curious and elegant. In the hands of classical composers, the instruments of the quintet alternately sing to or accompany each other, while in modern works, the instruments challenge each other’s virtuosity.
The Hunter Wind Quintet is a group of local musicians with a wide range of national and international professional experience, ranging from symphony orchestras to small ensembles, from classical contemporary through jazz and electric. Together they form a unique ensemble that exploits the colourful and rich blend of woodwind instruments with French horn. Virtuosic riffs showcase melodies and harmonies of composers from across the ages.
