Healing Circle: A Contemplative Art Installation

Sunday 4 March, 2018 @ 2:30 pm5:00 pm

'Celtic Cross of Violence and Love' (detail) by Matthew Lamont

This art installation by Matthew Lamont consists of 5 pieces created between 2015–2017 (4 canvas pieces, 1 coffee table piece) arranged in a floor mandala. Drawing inspiration from mandala art, Contemplative Christian tradition, Koori spirituality and dreams, personal and universal themes are attended to: violence, love, peacemaking, grief and baby-loss, connection to country/cosmos, kinship and Aboriginal sovereignty.

Each piece is accompanied by a short prayer/poem. What has emerged intuitively is a healing mandala and a desire to share this with family, friends and community.

By way of welcome, Elsie Randall from Free Spirit Aboriginal Art Gallery will offer an Acknowledgement of Country and reflection. Gold coin donation entry will go to the art program provided at the gallery.

2.30pm – 4.30pm in the Church Auditorium
Gold coin donation entry.

Afternoon tea refreshments will be available.
Everyone is also welcome to join in FEAST at 6pm; shared food, communion and conversation with Mathew Lamont about his art work. Please bring a simple plate of food to share if joining us for FEAST.
