Venue Hire

There are a number of spaces at Adamstown Uniting Church that are available to rent for arts and community events.

• Church Auditorium (including entry foyer)
• Memorial Hall
• Barnes Meeting Room
• The Dungeon performance space
• The Bright Ideas room (Children’s activity room)
• Commercial Kitchens 

All spaces are air-conditioned and the Church Auditorium and Dungeon performance space feature professional lighting and sound desks. There are two commercial kitchens (inspected by council) for hire. These kitchens can be hired in conjunction with a room booking, or hired separately – for food preparation for catering/markets etc.

Groups and organisations that use our venue for concerts include Hunter Singers, Opera Hunter, Music Teachers Association, Newcastle Music Festival, Tradewinds Folk, Singalong To The Shows, Luca Ciarla (Italy), Easy Voices Chorus and local music studios.

The wonderful acoustics of the Adamstown Uniting Church along with its 6′ Yamaha Grand attract many artists to choose it as a concert venue.

Frequently asked questions

Are all rooms accessible?

All our venue spaces are wheelchair accessible except for the Bright Ideas Children’s activity room. Our carpark includes designated accessible parking spaces. Please note that ramp access to enter the church and memorial hall is via the gate at the top of the carpark. There is an accessible toilet on both floors of the building. Service animals are welcome inside all our venues.

Is the kitchen included with the hire of the other rooms?

No. The kitchens are not included and need to be booked when hiring. NB The Barnes room & Bright Ideas room both have kitchenettes with basic facilities, which is included with the hire.

How many people can fit in each room? (please contact office for reduced numbers under COVID-19 regulations)

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes. Adamstown Uniting Church has a carpark that includes designated accessible parking spaces. Entrance to our carpark is on Brunker Road. There is also considerable on-street parking, plus a large carpark a few minutes walk from the church behind the Brunker Road shops, accessed via Date St. Or you can leave the car at home and catch the bus, with bus stops just moments from the church.

Can I come in early to set up?

Set up and pack up time needs to be included with the booking as we may have other groups booked in before/after you.

How do I pay?

An invoice will be sent with banking details. Payments can also be made by cash, cheque or credit card.

Do I need insurance?

Yes, all groups hiring our venue must be insured. Purchasing public liability insurance may be available for some community groups and individuals (non-business). Hunter Professional Arts can provide public liability insurance for a reasonable fee. This includes a certificate of currency and covers Australia wide. Can we store equipment on site?

No, all equipment must be taken with you.

Is the sound equipment included with the church and dungeon?

Yes, some sound equipment is included – check the user agreement for details. Any extra set up may incur a fee.
