There are a number of spaces at Adamstown Uniting Church that are available to rent for arts and community events.
All spaces are air-conditioned and the Church Auditorium and Dungeon performance space feature professional lighting and sound desks. There are two commercial kitchens (inspected by council) for hire. These kitchens can be hired in conjunction with a room booking, or hired separately – for food preparation for catering/markets etc.
Groups and organisations that use our venue for concerts include Hunter Singers, Opera Hunter, Music Teachers Association, Newcastle Music Festival, Tradewinds Folk, Singalong To The Shows, Luca Ciarla (Italy), Easy Voices Chorus and local music studios.
The wonderful acoustics of the Adamstown Uniting Church along with its 6′ Yamaha Grand attract many artists to choose it as a concert venue.
All our venue spaces are wheelchair accessible except for the Bright Ideas Children’s activity room. Our carpark includes designated accessible parking spaces. Please note that ramp access to enter the church and memorial hall is via the gate at the top of the carpark. There is an accessible toilet on both floors of the building. Service animals are welcome inside all our venues.
Please contact the office for any additional questions related to accessibility.

“We used Adamstown Uniting Church for our masterclass with Andrew Tyson, and the venue was perfect with a quality grand piano, crisp acoustic and an intimate, welcoming feel.” – Callum Close, Musica Viva Australia
“We regularly hire Adamstown Uniting Church auditorium for our music concerts. The piano is regularly maintained and the auditorium has good acoustics and up to date sound equipment. The medium capacity of the venue makes it ideal for us to use as it’s not too big, but large enough to accommodate our audiences. We have always found the church and support staff very helpful and appreciate the non-profit educational discount we receive that helps us to continue to provide opportunities to music teachers and students.” – Rosemary Allen (Newcastle Branch President MTA NSW)
“Firstly, let me say I absolutely love the Dungeon. What a great venue! It is intimate, acoustically perfect and has a wonderful stage and a great set of coloured lights that really set the mood. For small bands or solo gigs, this has to be one of the best spots in town for an evening of music. The night we played the kitchen was open and the cafe tables were out. About 30–50 people could easily fit comfortably with the tables out. What a wonderful and uniquely intimate atmosphere! Had the best night! I can imagine the tables could be taken out and a small standing room only concert would work well too. I’d guess you could fit 100 or so people that way. I’ve played a lot of venues over the last 25 years and the Dungeon at Adamstown is in my top 3 favourites!” – Peter Dixon (musician)
